Valeria Kolomiets

Deputy Minister of Justice for European Integration.

Ms. Kolomiets has extensive experience in legal practice. From 2009 to 2012, she worked as an assistant lawyer at the Vinnytsia Regional Bar Association. In 2012-2015 she provided legal assistance in the organizational and legal form of the Law Office of Valeria Kolomiets. From 2015 to 2016, she was a partner in the criminal law practice of Ligalade Law Firm. In 2016-2018, she was a partner in the practice of criminal legal protection of the Bachynsky, Kolomiets and Partners Law Firm. Since May 2018, she has been practicing law in the organizational and legal form of Valeria Kolomiets Law Office.

Ms. Kolomiets also has experience in teaching the Master’s Program in Human Rights of the Ukrainian Catholic University, as well as in the framework of the Certified Programs of the UCU School of Law “School of IT Law” and “Human Rights Advocacy”; “Schools of Practical Law” of the UCU School of Law; conducting trainings and seminars for the Student League of the Ukrainian Bar Association, ELSA and the School of the Future Lawyer of the Ukrainian Bar Association. She acted as a moderator-trainer in the exchange of experience between lawyers who provide free legal aid.

In 2015-2017 she took an active part in the activities of the Department of Special Proceedings of the Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights on behalf of (including participation in public investigations of human rights violations in the activities of law enforcement agencies of Lviv region). In 2016-2017, she was the regional coordinator of the team for counteracting violations of the rights of vulnerable groups in Lviv region (acting with the support of the NGO “Expert Center for Human Rights” and the Public Health Program Initiative of the ICF “Renaissance”).

Since June 2019, she has been an expert in the project of the Ukrainian Legal Aid Foundation and the Public Health Program Initiative of the Renaissance ICF – “Protection of the Rights of People Vulnerable to HIV”.

From September 2019 until today, Deputy Minister of Justice of Ukraine.
