Stig Arne Skjerven

Stig Arne Skjerven is Norway’s Permanent Representative to UNESCO in Paris, and he was Norway’s delegate to both the meetings in the negotiations on the revised 1974-recommendation. An important part of his current portfolio is to follow up Norway’s priorities in the field of global education. Before becoming a diplomat in Paris, Mr. Skjerven has extensively experience in international education, and he has held positions as Director of Foreign Education of the competent authority in charge of recognition of qualifications in Norway, Director of Academic Affairs at a Higher Education Institution and Policy Advisor in Education. He is holding the position as the Chair of the Bureau of the Global Recognition Convention for Higher Education Qualifications, and he has previously been elected President of the European recognition network of information centers, know as ENIC-NARIC network.
