Halyna Balyuk

Doctor of Law, Professor, Professor of the Environmental Law Department of the Institute of Law of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kiev, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine. Distinguished Lawyer of Ukraine, Honored Lawyer of Ukraine, Excellence in Education of Ukraine.

Halyna Balyuk has been working at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kiev since September 1987. In 1987 she defended her thesis for the degree of candidate of juridical science on the theme: “The mutual connection between the legal culture and socialist democracy” (qualification 12.00.01) and in 1991 she was given an academic title of associate professor. In 2000 she defended her dissertation for the degree of assistant professor. She defended her thesis for Doctor’s degree on the theme: “The Problems of Formation and Formation of Nuclear Law in Ukraine” (speciality 12.00.01 and 12.00.06).

Academic title of professor was awarded in 2002. She was elected a corresponding member of the Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine (now – National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine) in 2009. Author of more than 350 scientific and educational works. Experience in practical work specialty arbitrator International Commercial Arbitration Court at the Chamber of Commerce of Ukraine; arbitrator of the Vilnius International Commercial Arbitration Court (Republic of Lithuania) member of the editorial board of the Bulletin “Legal Sciences” Taras Shevchenko National  University of Kyiv; member of the Ukrainian Association of International Law, member of the editorial board of “Environmental Law of Ukraine” scientific and practical magazine. Scientific adviser for institutions: member of the National Commission on Radiation Protection of Population of Ukraine; scientific adviser for the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Fuel and Energy Complex, Nuclear Policy and Nuclear Safety.

Organizational work in educational institutions as head (deputy head) of educational institution / institute / faculty / department (scientific institution) branch of the department: member of Scientific Public Council of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv; member of scientific-methodical commission of the Faculty of Law of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv; scientific adviser to the Verkhovna Rada Committee of Ukraine on Fuel and Energy Complex, Nuclear Policy and Nuclear Safety

Today Halyna Balyuk participates in the grant project of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine (2020 – 2021) on “The Legal Model of Social and Environmental Security Doctrine of Ukraine.
