Hugo Coelho

An expert in financial regulation and EU politics.

He is currently digital asset regulation lead at the Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance. Between 2018 and 2020, he worked as chief advisor to the President of the Eurogroup and was involved the discussions on the regulation of Libra at the G7 level. Later, Hugo set up the digital asset practice at Forefront, a political research firm, and worked as director of EU policy at Binance, advising on licensing strategy and the preparations for MiCA. He started his career as a journalist and published a critically-acclaimed book on the Euro sovereign crisis. He holds a Masters in European and Comparative Social Policy from the London School of Economics.
