Vadym Chovgan

Vadym Chovgan is an international human rights lawyer. He currently works as a legal advisor at the Danish Institute against Torture – DIGNITY (Copenhagen) where he is in charge of human rights initiatives in Ukraine and other countries such as Tunisia and Morocco.

In the past, he worked in Ukrainian human rights NGOs and international organisations where he was responsible for prison reform. His portfolio includes draft laws and laws in the sphere of prisoners’ rights, publications on how Ukraine implements the international standards in this sphere, and a new digital system for the evaluation of prisons’ performance. Vadym Chovgan conducted over 100 visits to prisons in Ukraine and abroad (USA, France, Moldova etc), including in the capacity of expert to the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture (Strasbourg).

Vadym Chovgan graduated from the Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University. He obtained his PhD degree in France.
