Nataliia Hendel

Leading researcher at the State Scientific Institution ‘Institute of Information, Security and Law of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine’, expert at the NGO ‘Foundation for Support of Fundamental Research’, PhD in Law, Associate Professor.

She is an expert with the Council of Europe, where she contributed to the development of a course on international humanitarian law and human rights for the HELP platform. Nataliia Hendel also serves as the Chair of the International Humanitarian Law Center of the Ukrainian Association of International Law. She is a human rights and international humanitarian law trainer at the School of Public Administration. She is a member of the working group on environmental protection from the effects of armed conflict within the Interdepartmental Commission on the Application and Implementation of International Humanitarian Law Norms in Ukraine. She is also a member of the Executive Board of the GROMADA project (Erasmus+ programme of the European Union). Dr Hendel was a research fellow at the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights from 2022 to 2024.
