Olena Uvarova

PhD in Law, lecturer in the Theory of Law Department, Head of the International Lab on business and human rights in the Yaroslav Mudriy National Law University,  Head of the Research and Projects Support Center in the Yaroslav Mudriy National Law University. Dr. Uvarova is the author of more than 80 scientific papers on the theory of law, human rights, gender equality, anti-discrimination policy, business and human rights. Since 2014, she has been a member of the editorial board of the journal “Philosophy of Law and General Theory of Law” (EBSCO Publishing). Some of her completed projects include – “Promoting human rights and gender equality in Ukraine through the implementation of international legal instruments”, “Monitoring of court decisions regarding gender discrimination, focusing on the application of Ukrainian legislation and international law”, “Tolerance in post-conflict societies” etc.

Olena is the graduate of Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program, University of Utah, Tanner Center for Human Rights, Salt Lake City, UT 2019-2020.

In 2017 she was Expert leader of the NLU project “Business Human Rights Responsibilities: Experience of the V4 and Baltic Countries for Ukraine” supported by IVF and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands. In 2018 Olena Uvarova was Coordinator of the project “Business and Human Rights (Curriculum for law students)”. Dr. Uvarova took part as an expert at the invitation of the Working Group on Human Rights Constitutional Commission, in the formal discussions on Section II of “Human Rights” of the Constitution of Ukraine anti-discrimination rules. Olena was the National of Council of Europe in the project “Improving Women’s Access to Justice”, National consultant UN Women in Ukraine, project “CEDAW in Action”, Expert leader of other projects. She is a Member of the CSP Working Group on Women and Gender Realities in the OSCE Region, member of the Board of the Global Business and Human Rights Scholars Association.
