Presentation of the Joint Certificate Program “Practical Course on the Rule of Law” (09.27.2018)
Within the framework of legal education quality improvement measures, with the support of the USAID New Justice Program, the presentation of a joint certification program of Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University and the University of South Carolina “Practical Course on the Rule of Law” was held.
As Legal Advisor to the USAID New Justice Program, Co-coordinator of the Certificate Program “Practical Course on the Rule of Law” Ashot Ahaian said that such a program is the first such practical program in Ukraine.
The USAID New Justice Program Leader David Vaughn noted that USAID New Justice Program supports the modernization of legal education, including law enforcement training methods. The purpose of the Certificate Program is to improve understanding and application of the rule of law in legal practice.
Vice-Rector for AcademicWork, the head of the working group on the implementation of the certificate program Yurii Barabash said: “Six months ago the University received a proposal to participate in this project. The University of South Carolina experts selected us among other higher education institutions that train lawyers through a competition in which all participants were in the same conditions. In introducing the Certificate of Practice “Practical Course on the Rule of Law”, I see great prospects for the University itself, as it is about creating a new field of activity – adult education. It is for practicing lawyers, first of all, that this certificate program is designed. We will make every effort to become a methodological basis for ongoing workshops”.
