Ganna Shvachka

Ganna  SHVACHKA, PhD, docent of Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Head of charity fund “Ukraine-Slovakia SOS” (Ukraine), Head of civic association «SME SPOLU» (Slovakia).

Mrs. Shvachka was born in 1976 in Crimea, the former USSR. She graduated from National Law Academy of Ukraine (Kharkiv).

Mrs. Shvachka has been serving as a docent of Kyiv University of Law National Academy of Science of Ukraine since 2004. Prior to her job at Kyiv University of Law, she worked as a docent at Law Department of Taurida National University (Simferopol); prepared and defended her PhD thesis named “The law basis of the Crimean Autonomous Republic’s normative acts” in the National Law Academy of Ukraine (Kharkiv).

Her academic interests included legal aspects of the occupation of The Autonomous Republic of Crimea; comparative research of legal status of autonomic formation in several unitary states; human and civil rights in these formations, in particular regarding national minorities; powers and limitations on lawmaking process in autonomic formations.

Mrs. Shvachka has been participating in international research programs in Centre for Russian and East European Studies, Munk Centre for International Studies at University of Toronto, and at Central European University in Budapest, among others.

Since first days of Ukrainian protest movement “Euromaidan”, she was engaged in the network of volunteers lawyers that were working with human rights protection for Ukrainian political prisoners, and become activist  of “Euromaidan SOS” volunteers group.

She moved to Bratislava in 2014, and since September she starts to setup her network of ukrainian-slovakians volunteers called “SOSukrajina/sk” for helping Ukrainian militaries, whom were receiving medical treatment in Slovakia, and collecting donations for humanitarian aid for Ukrainians IDPs.
