He is an expert of the Advocacy Centre on Council of Europe Standards (ACCESS) and a Lecturer in Public Law at the University of Cyprus, an advocate and a member of the Council of Europe Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT). The event will be attended by representatives of state institutions who are responsible for implementing policies to protect the rights of internally displaced persons, recognized national experts etc.

Context
The review of the European standards of human rights protection of internally displaced persons which is the first edition in Europe will be a presented at the Round table.
The event will be held with the support of the Council of Europe “Strengthening human rights protection of internally displaced persons in Ukraine”, implemented within the CoE Action Plan for Ukraine 2015-2017. One of the objectives is promoting the improvement of the legal framework of Ukraine in the field of human rights of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in accordance with European and other international standards. The project aims to strengthen the capacity of relevant stakeholders and raise awareness of the situation of IDPs, including their rights and the obstacles they face in exercising their rights in practice. The project also promotes initiatives and policy for the integration of IDPs at local and regional levels.
