The rapid development of digital technologies, the emergence of artificial intelligence systems, the evolution of products after they have been placed on the market, the growing complexity of corporate relations, and new forms of abuse of judicial procedures raise questions for the law of non-contractual liability to which traditional legal concepts do not always provide sufficiently convincing answers. At the same time, for Ukraine these challenges have an additional dimension: the adaptation of private law to European Union law and the need to take contemporary European approaches into account in the process of legal reform.

The workshop will bring together Ukrainian and European academics and practitioners to discuss how the grounds and limits of non-contractual liability are changing under the influence of new technological, economic, and social risks. The discussion will focus on liability for harm related to the use of artificial intelligence, criteria for defectiveness in evolving products, the legal significance of safety warnings, the liability of majority shareholders and company directors, as well as European regulation of SLAPPs. The aim is to identify which elements of the European experience may be relevant for the further development of Ukrainian non-contractual liability law.
