The panel discussion ‘Food Security: The Legal Dimension of Post-War Recovery’ is dedicated to the current legal challenges and prospects for ensuring Ukraine’s food security in the context of post-war recovery. The focus is on improving agricultural legislation, providing a legal framework for the sustainable development of agriculture, restoring agri-food infrastructure, guaranteeing the right to food and establishing a resilient agri-food system, as well as the key legislative and institutional changes required to rebuild the agricultural sector, enhance its resilience and integrate Ukraine into the European legal framework.

As part of the panel discussion, there will be a discussion of pressing issues in theory and practice regarding the development of a legal framework to ensure Ukraine’s food security in the context of post-war recovery and European integration, with the aim of finding scientifically sound solutions in the field of law enforcement and establishing professional contacts between academics and practitioners.

The speakers’ presentations will focus on the constitutional and legal foundations of ensuring food security, areas for improving legislation in this field and the current practice of the Grand Chamber of the Supreme Court, issues relating to guaranteeing the availability and safety of food products, the recovery of the agricultural sector as the basis for the country’s food resilience, the challenges of organic farming, the restoration of agricultural land damaged by the war, the benefits and risks of changes to the legal regulation of the circulation of pesticides and genetically modified products in Ukraine, as well as the implementation of European standards and international best practice in the process of Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction, and so on.
